今回、私が意味を調べたのは青い箇所です。

章の小見出しの意味がわからなかったら、必ず調べます。小見出しの意味は大事です。
Loomは、ぼうっと現れること。loomingsなので、ぼうっと現れてくるものがいくつもあるんだろうな、と、あたりをつけます。
調べた単語の意味を全部書き込む必要はありません。むしろ書き込んじゃダメ。
でも、このくらいの数だったらページの端や、行間に余裕があれば、そこに書き込んでもそこまでうるさくならないでしょう。
まず、抑えなくてはいけないところを見ます。
誰が、どうする（した）のか、です。それから「いつ」。
赤くしたのが抑えておくところです。
Ishmael 登場人物ですから名前を抑えます。
Some years ago は、はっきりとはしませんが、「いつ」。
I thought I would sail about a little で船に乗ってちょいと旅に出るつもりだ、ということがわかります。
次に、目につくところ。
Whenever〜 と、何回か出てくるので、並列の構造をつかみます。〜のときはいつでも、Ishmaelは、海へ行きたくなるんだな、という理由がwheneverの数だけあります。
走り書きですけど、こういう構造。

このaccount it 〜だとみなされる
high time to まさに〜する時間（とき）だ
などの表現は、今回は、accountが文語的な表現なので馴染みがありませんでしたから調べましたけど、青い部分がなくても赤いところの意味はわかるので、辞書をひかなくても先へ行けます。
イシュマエルは、お金がなくて、何かつまらない理由でむしゃくしゃするときは、人に暴力を振るう代わりに航海に出る、というのが解ればOK。次へ進みましょう。

ここからは時間に余裕があれば見るところです。
上記を見ると、私は副詞を調べたいんだな、というのがわかります。
involuntarily
deliberately
methodically
これらの副詞は、「どんな風に」を表しますが、これらは読み飛ばしていても流れはつかめます。なので今までの読書の中でも、けっこう曖昧なまま来てしまっている、という反省があって、今の段階では、もう少しそこをきちんと見てみたいのです。
しつこいですが、いつでも最初に抑えるのは、
誰が、何をしたか（するか）
なので、今までの読書歴の中で動詞の語彙数は、かなり増えています。「どんな風に」は飛ばしてしまっても読めるので、副詞の語彙が少ないのです。
また、こうした言葉は、いちいち辞書を引かなくても、
involuntarily は、volunteerとか、voluntaryを知っていれば、そのin（否定）だな、と、推測できます。
methodically も methodを知っていれば、なんとなく意味の推測はできます。
これらの単語は、こんな感じなんだろうな、くらいの理解で大丈夫。いちいち辞書を引かずに先へ行ってかまいません。辞書をひくのであれば、その前に「こんな意味かな」と推測してから引きます。
deliberately は、前にも何度も引いた覚えがあり、ちょっと悔しい。ああ、intentionallyってことか。これは書き込もう。日本語で「故意に」ではなく、intentionalは馴染みがあるので、intentionally と書き込んでおきます。
こういう時は語源も見て、
『de（完全に）liberate（心のはかりにかける）』とあるので、「おお、libra（天秤座）の関連か」などと、もう少しこの単語の情報を増やそうとします。記憶に残すには、いくつかフックがついてると引っかかりやすいからです。
と、いうわけで、今回、私が書き込むのは deliberately の意味、 intentionally だけです。たぶん、この本の中には、intentionally よりdeliberately が、たくさん出てくるはずです。

Catoは、大文字で始まっているから人名で、その前にa philosophical flourishとあるので、大カトーとか、そういう人のことを昔、習ったような……、と、推測しながらWikiで調べます。ああ、やっぱりそうだったね、となったら、話のコアには関係ないので、こだわらずに先へ行きます。

どうした／どうする、
これがわかれば頭の中でイメージが作れます。
もし全部意味がわからなくても次へ行きましょう。
そのうち解ってきます。完璧主義は捨てて、どんどん読みましょう。
